เอ็น-เมทิลไพร์โรลิโดน หรือ เอ็นเอ็มพี (NMP) เป็นของเหลวไม่มีสี มีจุดเดือดสูง, มีความเป็น solvent strength สูง, อัตราการระเหยตัวต่ำ, มีความเป็นพิษต่ำมาก สามารถย่อยสลายได้โดยธรรมชาติ และเป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม. NMP เป็นตัวทำละลายทางเลือกใหม่ที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม และเป็นตัวทดแทน เมทิลีนคลอไรด์ (MC) และ Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) ซึ่งเป็นสารก่อมะเร็ง. N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP) is the lactam of 4-methylaminobutyric acid and a very weak base. NMP is a chemicall y stable and powerful polar solvent. These character istics are highly useful in a variety of chemical reactions where an inert medium is of concern. Despite the stability of NMP, it can also play an active role in certain reactions: hydrolysi s, oxidation, condensat ion, conversio n with chlorinat ing agents, polymeriz ation and o-alkylation, and related reactions . N-Methylpyrrolidone is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid with a faint amine odor. It is miscible in water and conventio nal organic solvents. NMP are high boiling point, high solvent strength, low volatilit y, less toxicity, biodegrad able and more environme nt friendly. NMP can serve as a co-solvent with water, alcohols, glycol ethers, ketones, and aromatic/chlorinated hydrocarb ons.

NMP APPLICATI ONS
Electroni cs, NMP has been used in the electroni cs industry for many years as a photoresi st stripper. Now, with the phase out of CFC’s, NMP has gained widesprea d acceptanc e as a solvent in other electroni c applicati ons including semi-aqueous de-fluxing, degreasin g, and coatings (polyamide, epoxy and polyureth ane).
Graffiti Removers, NMP-based graffiti removers combine high performan ce and biodegrad ability with low volatilit y and low flammabil ity. NMP can be blended with glycol ethers or acetates such as Glycol Ether PMA, PEA, and DPMA; they are cost effective and improve performan ce on surfaces defaced by lipstick and crayon graffiti.
Agricultu ral, the agricultu ral chemical industry takes advantage of NMP’s solvency and handling propertie s in agricultu ral formulati ons.
Consumer and Industria l Cleaners, NMP is an effective stripping agent used in floor stripping, oven cleaners, graffiti removers, and paint strippers . Due to its high solvency and low volatilit y, it is used in automotiv e and industria l cleaners with solvents such as hydrocarb ons, terpenes, propylene carbonate and P-Series glycol ethers.
Coatings Solvent, NMP is a powerful solvent for most commercia l resins. Due to its high boiling point and excellent solvent power, NMP extends and improves the propertie s of high temperatu re bake coatings. For instance, high solid binders are more easily obtained with NMP as the solvent. Quite often, baked finishes yield coatings with outstandi ng mechanica l and dielectri c propertie s. NMP also aids rheologic al control: better flow and leveling -less cratering and pinholing . For these reasons, NMP has been shown to be highly effective in wire coating and other high temperatu re coating applicati ons. NMP is also the preferred solvent for urethane dispersio ns and is an excellent coalescen t for acrylic and styrene acrylic latexes.
Petrochem ical Processin g, NMP has been shown to have a selective affinity for unsaturat ed hydrocarb ons, aromatics and sulfur-bearing gases. Due to its relative non-reactivity and high solvency, NMP finds wide applicabi lity as an extractio n solvent in lube oil processin g as well as in natural and synthetic gas purificat ion's.
Miscellan eous Solvent Applicati ons, the excellent thermal and chemical stability of NMP enhances its utility as a solvent or co-solvent in many synthetic reaction systems. NMP shows selective affinity for unsaturat ed hydrocarb ons, aromatics, and sulfur compounds . NMP can serve as a co-solvent with water, aromatic, chlorinat ed hydrocarb ons, alcohols, glycol ethers, and ketones, etc.
